Josh Cook is a seasoned government affairs and communications consultant with over 20 years of experience solving complex political problems in California and Nevada.
His clients have included Senators, Assembly Members, Members of Congress, homebuilders, local candidates, political action committees, advocacy groups, ballot measures, law firms, local governments, businesses, cities, and Indian tribes.
From 2000 to 2007, Josh served as a Senior Consultant in the California State Senate. Cook’s areas of public policy expertise include Indian sovereignty, property rights/land use, local government, energy de-regulation, water, and the role of faith-based organizations in providing social services.
As a former Planning Commissioner, Josh has experience navigating the complex terrain of modern land use politics, property entitlements, environmental mitigation and land conservation.
Cook provides his clients with strategic communications planning and counsel, coalition building, fundraising, crisis communication, issue management, on the ground political intelligence, and winning strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
Politics, campaigns, and elections have been a part of Josh’s life since he was a kid working on his father’s campaigns for School Board and City Council. In 1994, at age 24, Cook managed his first U.S. Congressional campaign. Since that time Cook has managed successful political campaigns in every election cycle. In 2010 Cook managed Senator Bill Emmerson’s campaign and the Anthony Cannella for Senate campaign, winning two Senate races in a year that no Republican was elected to a statewide office. Cook served as Chairman of the Butte County Republican Party and as a member of the State Party Executive Committee and was an alternate delegate for President George W. Bush in 2004.
